Abstract

The industry is shifting from 4G to 5G, which promises a tenfold increase in data throughput. However, 5G is about much more than simply higher bandwidth. 5G is basically a re-architecture of network infrastructure that incorporates a number of significant technology advancements. One important aspect of 5G networks is the Resource Allocation (RA), where many promising technologies are implemented, like Multi-User Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MU-MIMO) and Downlink and Uplink Decoupling (DUDe) and many new technologies like Machine Learning (ML) and Game Theory (GT) must be investigated. This paper presents state of art research for RA
using MU-MIMO, DUDe, ML and GT. The above will be the base for proposing guidance for effective RA algorithm design and implementation for 5G and beyond networks.
